- Heritage Garden at the WSU Vancouver campus,
- SW Washington Coalition of Food Banks with volunteer assistance, and donated food.
The creativity, generosity, and hard work of Foundation members make it possible to support such a wide range of projects.
Fund Raising
The largest fund-raising project of the Foundation is the annual Spring Plant Sale, held at the WSU Research and Extension Unit located at 1919 NE 78th Street in Vancouver on Mother’s Day weekend. Volunteers work all year to dig and divide plants from their gardens (plant donations are also accepted from the community), weed, plant seeds, root cuttings, transplant, water, fertilize, mix soil, make compost, tag, price, research plants and make signs. Thousands of plants are offered for sale at very reasonable prices, ranging from vegetables, annual flowers, hanging baskets, pre-planted color pots, perennials for sun or shade, shrubs, groundcovers, house plants, to large trees and more. In addition, the plant sale includes vendors selling specialty plants and garden accessories. More than 1,000 customers attend this popular plant sale and often line up early in anticipation of snagging a one-of-a-kind bargain.
The Foundation also raises funds by book sales, promotional item sales such as aprons, tee shirts, hats and mugs, and donations.
